An update on us & curriculum<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sK8s_L58YLM/UPSWdyXL7AI/AAAAAAAABzM/TvkmvcBVLGY/s1600/Ababy4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sK8s_L58YLM/UPSWdyXL7AI/AAAAAAAABzM/TvkmvcBVLGY/s200/Ababy4.jpg" width="200" /></a>It's been WAY too long since I've checked it! If you have read my last few posts you know this school year hasn't gone as planned, but God's grace is sufficient & just what we need! On October 31 we found out we are pregnant with baby #4!!! Which meant 2 months of HORRIBLE sickness, not morning sickness...hyperemesis! YUCK! But praise the Lord it has passed & I am now in my 2nd trimester & we are back to normal life! Well normal for us :)<br />
<br />
We weren't able to to do any school due to the severity of my sickness, but now we are back & on a roll! Before my blog hiatus I didn't get around to posting some of the fun stuff we had been doing so keep your eyes open & ready for those posts!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rSp-ejMW-hY/UPSUq7ErlGI/AAAAAAAABys/HYP9pF_TbwQ/s1600/RoadTripCoverWeb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rSp-ejMW-hY/UPSUq7ErlGI/AAAAAAAABys/HYP9pF_TbwQ/s200/RoadTripCoverWeb.jpg" width="154" /></a>Brady is doing well in 2nd grade & I have updated & made a few changed in his curriculum. He is using <a href="http://www.aophomeschooling.com/horizons/grade-2/spelling/" target="_blank">Horizons</a> for spelling & its going great! The various worksheets come in handy for him to practice each day & that has helped me out tremendously! We got behind with <a href="http://www.mfwbooks.com/products/M50/40/5/0/1" target="_blank">MFW</a> but are picking it back up & adding <a href="http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/u-s-geography" target="_blank">Road Trip USA</a> from <a href="http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/" target="_blank">Confessions of a Homeschooler</a> soon! Brady has loved learning about the USA & asks lots of questions about all the different states, so instead of using the net level of MFW net year we will continue to do Road Trip USA & dedicate one week for each of the 50 states including Washington DC for a total of 51 weeks so we are looking at a full year of US Geography. Of course we will take breaks in our school year, but since we homeschool it doesn't matter if we finish in the middle of the school year or not. Both Brady & I are VERY excited about this!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-73ViqYVIL9M/UPSVx0sopiI/AAAAAAAABzE/yPEt0EEfMLQ/s1600/IMG_0545.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-73ViqYVIL9M/UPSVx0sopiI/AAAAAAAABzE/yPEt0EEfMLQ/s200/IMG_0545.JPG" width="200" /></a>He is also doing <a href="http://www.singaporemath.com/Primary_Mathematics_US_Ed_s/39.htm" target="_blank">Singapore</a> math & we really like it a lot. Before we get back to using it again we are taking a few weeks to relearn our addition & subtraction facts before we move on to harder stuff. I want to be sure Brady is ready to move on with a good foundation in place! Brady completed he's reading program from <a href="https://www.hookedonphonics.com/List/?list=WEBHOPA04" target="_blank">Hooked On Phonics</a> so now we are just reading for fun & doing various worksheets we copy from the <a href="http://schoolintheboys.blogspot.com/2011/05/homeschool-mommas-heaven.html" target="_blank">Resource Center</a> on specific skills. As far as Bible goes, we use the Beginner's Bible & Brady reads a story from it each day & we talk about it. We also use the Bible lessons from MFW & enjoy watching <a href="http://whatsinthebible.com/" target="_blank">What's In the Bible DVDs!</a> For Science we go along with our MFW curriculum & do whatever seasonal things that come up or whatever the boys decide they are interested in.<br />
<br />

<br /><br />
Rylan is doing great with <a href="http://www.aophomeschooling.com/horizons/preschool/" target="_blank">Horizions Preschool</a> books! The worksheets are great for him! Of course I add fun hands-on stuff & use lots of fun things from <a href="http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/index.html" target="_blank">1+1+1=1</a>. He won't complete the workbooks for awhile since we didn't start them til recently, but when he's ready for "Kindergarten" I will also add in <a href="http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/RaisingRockStarsKindergarten.html" target="_blank">Raising Rock Stars Kindergarten</a>, <a href="http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/SightWordsJoin.html" target="_blank">You Can Read</a> & <a href="https://www.hookedonphonics.com/Product/ltr-kindergarten-complete/" target="_blank">Hooked on Phonics for K.</a><br />

<br />
As for Keller my lil tot, it's just intentional play! We talk about letters & count together as we read & play. He LOVES to color & do "school" when he notices his big brothers working & demands a pencil or crayon & a book or paper.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I hope you all have been doing great! If you are interested in seeing our day to day pictures of what we do you can follow me on Instagram...my name is MommaAsh & don't forget to check out my other blog about my <a href="http://finishinghisrace.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Jesus Journey</a>.MommaAshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11588599316027687411noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5982805549970315307.post-68081387365036505462012-09-27T10:14:00.000-07:002012-09-27T10:14:10.561-07:00Letting Go, Changing Plans, Moving ForwardI had the MOST awesome homeschool year planned out for my kiddos! I researched & took time to look at what they needed to learn, reviewed curriculum, borrowed books, or bought some cheaply, or didn't buy at all! I had planned to do my own math curriculum because as a former elementary teacher I know what he needs to know by when & I'm completely confident in myself. I had found free printables & such for my preschooler online that I loved & knew I could totally put together fun ideas to teach him. It would take time to plan, print, copy, & laminate, but I knew I had the complete ability to do it all!<br />
<br />
But then the ball dropped. Hard. then it rolled & took on the snowball effect & we got more & more off course. I've been super busy with ministry stuff & a new part time job, not mention staying home & schooling 3 boys: 7, 4, & almost 2. Time is not on my side, 24 hours doesn't do it.<br />
<br />
I have to sleep. I need to have quiet time. I'm trying to lose weight & get healthy so we can get pregnant again. My house needs updating on paint (BADLY). I just couldn't & can't do it all. No way. No how. No matter how hard I want to & how hard I try...I just can't.<br />
<br />
I decided to not beat myself up. I found a preschool curriculum by Horizons complete with videos, workbooks, music etc. It was a lot more than I ever planned or would normally spend! After sitting at this very computer & praying I knew I needed to take this plunge. My 2 year old could take part in some things & so cute & fun we can totally use year after year 2-5 years of age if needed! It covers everything from letter recognition, sounds, number recognition to early addition, science, character building, Bible, social studies, etc! I'll use it as fast or as slow as needed & I just cut out hours of planning, prinitng, laminating, etc etc etc!! Whoo hoo!!! YEA ME!! (Really praise Jesus for giving me this epiphany!!)<br />
<br />
I also gave my 7 year old a placement test & decided on using Singapore Math because of the higher order thinking skills it uses. I really liked Horizons spiral plan, but the reviews & thinking skills Singapore would teach him won me over. Again I just shaved off hour of all the planning I would've had to do.<br />
<br />
The best part about all of this? No it's not really the time saving factor, it's that I don't feel guilt or failure for having to change my plans & let go of this "dream" I had. That is the power of Christ in me. Helping me, nurturing me, & reminding me that in Him there is NO condemnation & just because all these other homeschool mommas can seemingly "do it all" it is perfectly ok that I can't. I can take an easier road, press on & move forward.<br />
<br />
I will still add in fun themes here & there as time allows, but in this season, this momma needs a break!<br />
<br />
I still have blogs to write on our Letter F & H & about my 2nd grader's journey so far this year. We have had lots of fun & I'm excited to share it all with you whenever I can!<br />
<br />
Many blessings to you all!!MommaAshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11588599316027687411noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5982805549970315307.post-52180816480240543612012-08-01T08:10:00.000-07:002012-08-01T08:10:03.848-07:00Prayers Needed for MommaThis summer has not gone as planned to say the least! Sickness has overwhelmed us & for the last 3 weeks its been me :( I was diagnosed with strep July 11 & since then I haven't been fully well. My glands all over my body will randomly swell up & I think the antibiotic has had some side effects with other areas of my body if you catch what I'm saying....if you don't...well I'm far too modest & embarrassed to go into detail so just pray for me any way ;P<br />
<br />
Some days I feel normal, then the next day I'm completely wiped out. Some days my glands are normal, then others they are swollen & today is one of those days :( My throat is killing me & my ears are stinging. I have an appointment later today to have some tests done to see if they can tell what the deal is & why I can's just get well.<br />
<br />
Please pray for me! I just want healing in Jesus Name! I haven't had the energy to school in a week & its been tough to say the least. I appreciate your prayers & will give you an update as soon as I can!<br />
<br />
Blessings to you all!MommaAshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11588599316027687411noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5982805549970315307.post-88414527827333920082012-07-24T08:34:00.001-07:002012-07-24T08:34:09.031-07:00Gettin BUGGY with it!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We've been studying bugs & insects on & off all summer just for fun! But last week we began full-time schoolin again so I continued our buggy adventures for Rylan & we focused on the letter B.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: lime; text-align: center;">
LETTER FUN </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We checked out some bug themed alphabet toys at the Resource Center & all the boys enjoyed them! Rylan sorted the B & b, matched bugs to the right letter on flower mats, did an ant themed puzzle matching the capital letters to their lower case buddies, & the boys played a fun board game called AlphaBUG Soup together. I altered the directions to fit each of their needs, Rylan: recognizing letters, Brady: phonics & spelling. Rylan also practiced writing his Bs using a printable from <a href="http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/RaisingRockStarsPreschool.html" target="_blank">Raising Rockstars Preschool</a> from 1+1+1=1. We also used her printable for our weekly Bible verse: <span style="color: blue;">Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be call sons of God. Matthew 5:9. </span><span style="color: black;">I am pleased to announce that Rylan really learned this verse! All week long he & Brady talked about being peacemakers & one day when we left for the grocery store Rylan called back to our pets & said, "Be peacemakers Fred & Carlos! Behave!" I was tickled!</span></div>

<div style="color: lime; text-align: center;">
EXPLORING</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Resource Center has all sorts a fun items to help the boys explore bugs. We really like the theme kits from <a href="http://www.lakeshorelearning.com/home/home.jsp" target="_blank">Lakeshore!</a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BiRgprQJfNQ/UA6qoBUoVYI/AAAAAAAABsg/2EX_sp-cW-0/s320/mud+033.JPG" width="320" /> <img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sHIle-ZOd7k/UA6q-32BmCI/AAAAAAAABso/OYneZ34yzhk/s320/mud+038.JPG" width="320" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The boys used their talking microscope they got for Christmas to look at all sorts of bug slides & learn a lot of facts about each one. This may go down as one of the best gifts they've ever received! Thanks Uncle Jon Jon & Aunt BeBe!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The boys were ECSTATIC to get their caterpillars in from Insect Lore! They observed them everyday & couldn't wait to watch their butterflies hatch. None of us really wanted to let them go, but eventually we did, but before we released them Brady insisted on praying for them :) We also went on a bug hunt in our yard & found a couple ladybugs, beetles, spiders, a HUMONGOUS wood roach (insert cringe!), & tons & tons of rolly pollies! They caught some to observe in their bug habitat they got from their Sonic Kid's Meals.</div>
<img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LgsAkGUNa14/UA63Te3RKgI/AAAAAAAABvs/jN0rHm1dt70/s320/cate.jpg" width="320" /> <img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ucs3_AprTr8/UA6r80mq7xI/AAAAAAAABs4/QQVyz8Nasp4/s320/mud+040.JPG" width="320" /> <br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: lime; text-align: center;">
PLAY</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are a few pics of the boys playing with some more bug themed toys we were able to check out. The favorite was the magnetic bug thing Keller is playing with. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_shop74aWdY/UA6tAn4jwWI/AAAAAAAABtU/T41P7ceQq8E/s320/museum+001.JPG" width="320" /> <img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-muXo7fS4_Nk/UA6tgLFLerI/AAAAAAAABtc/_Q3yturzmUo/s320/july+089.JPG" width="320" /></div>

<br />
<div style="color: lime; text-align: center;">
MATH</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Brady tried to teach Rylan addition using a book we checked out. He didn't get it, but did enjoy counting all the bugs :) I printed out various math inspired printables from <a href="http://www.2teachingmommies.com/p/unit-studies.html" target="_blank">2 Teaching Mommies' </a>various bug themes. Rylan's favorite of course was using marshmallows to do the spider graphing book. Learning is always fun when you can eat it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--VL55LelOIw/UA6ulXYhaEI/AAAAAAAABt4/R0qFZPh_xCA/s320/july+098.JPG" width="320" /><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DS7Rat6B2ms/UA6w5rsFUiI/AAAAAAAABus/Xat2UbsQstI/s320/july+118.JPG" width="320" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
He also had a good time putting together these cute lady bug counters. He had to match the colors & count the dots, then find the head with the correct number on it. After he did it by color he would mix up the body parts & just had fun playing around with them. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JJmvXZ9ZAv0/UA6vUbKhF6I/AAAAAAAABuI/VdN5xB9PtqU/s320/july+114.JPG" width="240" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: lime; text-align: center;">
BOOKS</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
As you can see we were able to get lots of fun books! The littles had a lot fun playing with the felt board for Quick As A Cricket, & I used this book with Brady to review him on adjectives & verbs. The Happy Bee & Beetle Bop came with a CD to listen to the stories. I try to find a book each week that they can listen too. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div style="color: lime; text-align: center;">
ART</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The boys made caterpillars from egg cartons & dragonflies from coffee filters & clothes pins. I LOVE the picture of Rylan coloring his butterflies! Our kitten Carlos watched Rylan's hand going back & forth quickly & jumped up to catch it, but then seemed interested in just watching him color. I was glad I had my camera on hand! </div>

I'm actually looking forward to it. As for my 4 year old, Rylan, I've decided to use lots of goodies I've found from various blogs. I really love Raising Rock Stars Preschool, but Ry isn't quite ready for all of it so I'll just use bits & pieces for now along with some fun stuff from my other favorite sites.

I'm still getting things organized & about to do a HUGE clean out of our school room to get everything ready. My goal is to start July 9. Now I just need to get set & GO!MommaAshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11588599316027687411noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5982805549970315307.post-11204226937540507852012-05-25T09:25:00.000-07:002012-05-25T09:40:51.789-07:00A Break For Me! Hallelujah!!!<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-B6pXQZ8LBCE/T7-rL2cebmI/AAAAAAAABoo/shgCmaNzDUs/s1600/parks+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-B6pXQZ8LBCE/T7-rL2cebmI/AAAAAAAABoo/shgCmaNzDUs/s320/parks+003.JPG" width="240" /></a> This sweet lil guy LOVES school! After 2 weeks of finishing 1st grade he begged & begged & begged to start up 2nd grade. I really did NOT want to, I needed a break! This past year was a whirlwind adventure in opening up about my past & the Lord opened many doors for me to travel & speak. As if being a full-time homeschooling momma didn't keep me busy enough, I was off doing events & press conferences a LOT! </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now I completely loved every bit of it, even when it was hard, & depressing, because I know the Lord had me doing exactly what He had called me to do. But I'm tired. Worn out. Spiritually, emotionally, physically, & mentally exhausted! I had prayed & asked God to give me a break, some rest to regroup, refocus, & just be. Then my precious Brady comes begging & begging to do school again & I caved in. We started a little, but things kept coming up, knocking us off track & then he & his middle brother got very sick for almost 2 weeks. </div>
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DoZUnQxaj6w/T7-r4CJ6JgI/AAAAAAAABo4/v8aA94deaOw/s1600/parks+046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DoZUnQxaj6w/T7-r4CJ6JgI/AAAAAAAABo4/v8aA94deaOw/s320/parks+046.JPG" width="240" /></a>So in the midst of my tiredness & wanting a chance to relax I overloaded myself with more schoolin, not fully prepared & then stuck in the house with sick kiddos. I was at a breaking point. I cried out to God to show me what to do, where to go & He gave me peace, stillness, time to reflect. I asked Brady if we could please hold off on 2nd grade, Momma needed a break. And his reply?<br />
<br />
<div style="color: blue;">
"Sure. I just wanted to be in 2nd grade so I could be in class at church with my 2nd grade friends before they went to 3rd grade. But my teacher told me I couldn't change until August."</div>
<br />
I died out laughing! So now, praise the Lord, I get a break! We are still practicing his math facts & reading of course & doing fun stuff with Rylan because I'm still doing preschool stuff with him. I must say I am so relieved! This summer we have a lot of fun stuff planned with VBS, play dates, & this will be Brady's 1st year to go to church camp! Lots of fun adventures await us.<br />
<br />
I pray you all have a great summer as well!!<br />

Brady's favorite part is the Digestive System! You enter through the mouth go down the esophagus to the stomach, run around all the intestines & slide into a toilet! How hilarious is that!? And to top it off it makes burping, gurgling, squishing, & pooting noises as they travel through! </div>

Cabin fever has set in on us. Last week my precious middle son same down with a fever that never came down. Rylan was miserable. His fever ran as high as 104 & even with alternating Ibuprofen & Tylenol every three hours it wouldn't fall below 101.7. He even missed his last King Singer performance at church for the year. It was not a good week. After taking him to the doctor all he could say was that it was a severe sinus infection, hooked him up with an antibiotic & sent us home to recover.<br />
<br />
Each day Rylan seemed to improve & then night time would come & so would the raging fever once again. After 5 days of this he finally woke up Friday morning feeling better, but his big brother did not. Brady ended up getting a viral infection & was having trouble breathing & his fever was scorching hot as well reaching almost 105!!!<br />
<br />
So here I am a full week later & I'm still locked inside my house with a sick kiddo. I have enjoyed the extra cuddles & snuggles that sick lil ones need when they don't feel good, but with that has meant missing the fun of swimming & play dates we had planned. Brady has had to miss baseball practice & now a game. I don't know who's more bummed about that, him or his daddy ;P<br />
<br />
I have been able to use these days to reorganize some homeschool stuff, do some deep cleaning & getting rid of stuff. Overall I must say that I am ready for everyone to be well & to get back our normal routine of things.<br />
<br />
Wishing you & yours many WELL wishes & prayers for all the sickness in this house to leave are VERY appreciated!!!MommaAshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11588599316027687411noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5982805549970315307.post-74840537450665939402012-05-09T10:47:00.002-07:002012-05-09T10:47:45.217-07:00What's in the Box Wednesday<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Workboxes are going well for Brady! I moved them back til during nap time. Some days Rylan doesn't need a nap, so while the baby is napping, & Brady is doing workboxes, I'll let Ry play on the computer or the iPod & some days I'll do extra school stuff with him if he wants. Luckily for me today he wanted to nap! </div>MommaAshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11588599316027687411noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5982805549970315307.post-56702033375760614862012-05-03T09:42:00.000-07:002012-05-15T07:30:57.239-07:00Weather & the Letter W<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Last week began a unit study on weather & Rylan focused on the letter W.<br />
<br />
<img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GgT1sI371pA/T6KXui8CtxI/AAAAAAAABi8/mL_RYkC3ylE/s320/IMG_0064.JPG" width="240" /> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Brady read to us about how Jesus calmed the storm. Living in the South we can have some pretty nasty thunderstorms & I want the boys to know they don't have to fear them, that instead they should pray to Jesus & trust that He will protect them. We also read about Jesus walking on the water & how Peter was able to walk to Him as long as he was looking at Jesus, but once Peter focused on the storm around him, he would sink. I told the boys that no matter how scary things seem all they have to do is trust Jesus & they'll be OK.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Whenever I introduce a new letter to Rylan we sing the fun LeapFrog song "Every Letter Makes A Sound." Then we'll talk about words that start with that letter. Ry loves doing magnet pages & using Do-A-Dot markers to form the letter. </div>
<img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7LwVR4twpyc/T6KTrBbBuHI/AAAAAAAABhk/S0EUeulSe4s/s320/parks+017.JPG" width="320" /> <img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3KdJxiaIsTg/T6KXFRGvbvI/AAAAAAAABis/GbblWHnnjTs/s320/IMG_0062.JPG" width="320" /><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Rylan moves on to practicing the letter formation & then to tracing the letter using a dry erase crayon so he can practice over & over without me having to waste paper :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NTbqmiHUgG8/T6KXYRv3v2I/AAAAAAAABi0/7AkgXsiZM3s/s320/IMG_0063.JPG" width="320" /> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We also reviewed the W word cards as he traced the W on each one. His writing is improving so much! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ialqBT6oX9o/T6KUy2wYEdI/AAAAAAAABh8/i9FCcroAAGM/s320/parks+035.JPG" width="240" /> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Rylan also does a great job matching the Scrabble tiles to the letters on the rain drops. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-77v59YXLTzQ/T6KVeTOXjMI/AAAAAAAABiM/4P5YJd6mS7w/s320/IMG_0054.JPG" width="320" /> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He also practiced coloring by number & cutting & pasting pictures that start with a W to his paper. We will add this to a mini Alphabet Picture Book we are putting together. </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pjjxnz4-9Tg/T6KYvbc2wFI/AAAAAAAABjU/fS1lNQFJtCw/s320/IMG_0071.JPG" width="240" /> <img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zlDkgI61A9k/T6KYaNNyZ-I/AAAAAAAABjM/M5LyKxV0NKM/s320/IMG_0070.JPG" width="240" /></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also introduced him to Starfall & I couldn't pry the child away! </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NViXZWUDN3E/T6KZXcPhr2I/AAAAAAAABjk/rgkD_1t5evo/s320/IMG_0086.JPG" width="240" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Rylan used the straw to make Wind to blow the Water (tempura paint) over the Ws. Afterward he dabbed it with a paper towel to make it look like Waves. </div>
<br />
<img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y7Zr8v44kVk/T6KVJTOhMLI/AAAAAAAABiE/oT8w884AMzo/s320/parks+036.JPG" width="320" /><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aeygm_ryJQQ/T6KUFpbYiiI/AAAAAAAABhs/eaGWCy53OtM/s320/parks+039.JPG" width="320" /><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Rylan did lots of counting practice & is doing great recognizing many of his numbers. We counted raindrops & made a counting book by coloring raindrops & tracing the number & the number word. Have I mentioned how thankful I am for the other ladies out there that make such cute learning printables?</div>
<img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2mLAd7C3SSk/T6KS_yXmYOI/AAAAAAAABhU/Eb1B63eDmx4/s320/parks+015.JPG" width="320" /> <img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VKF11Rfv_i0/T6KUc7tA73I/AAAAAAAABh0/-QLjnwCoJYo/s320/parks+034.JPG" width="320" /><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
For Science we reviewed various things that are hot & which are cold His favorite cold thing was a red Popsicle & his favorite hot thing was my coffee. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I checked out a Weather Theme Box from the Resource Center & let the boys explore it all. We reviewed various kinds of weather maps & the different types of weather. We looked at pictures & observed our local weather each day. Most of days were clear & sunny, but we got lucky & got a huge thunderstorm with beautiful lightning we oohed & ahhed over from safely inside & once it passed we saw a beautiful rainbow! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They loved playing with the different weather instruments that came in the box, especially seeing how fast the anemometer went around when the wind blew. We also watched YouTube videos of weather storms. The boys were AMAZED! We practiced our tornado drill for safety & briefly reviewed the water cycle. </div>
<br />
<br />
<img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y6TdNSqEQxc/T6KV0E9I5ZI/AAAAAAAABiU/t5gWNm_HEfE/s320/IMG_0058.JPG" width="320" /><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xETVBiC2Uok/T6KWu5zMLTI/AAAAAAAABik/2udHhPDAUBo/s320/IMG_0060.JPG" width="320" /><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I found this cute idea on Pinterest to put shaving cream on top of water to represent the clouds. Then we added blue food coloring & waited for it to "condensate" & then "precipitate." It took a while, but it was worth the wait to see their happy faces when it did! </div>

Well Brady has hit day 3 of 2nd grade & has realized how much more work it is. He hasn't changed his mind about starting up again so quickly, but he is pestering me to teach him Spanish :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He is still doing workboxes, but we are tinkering with our schedule since I have to devote more time to Rylan for preschool. So as of right now, Brady starts his boxes in the morning while I work one on one with Ry. Then after lunch while Keller naps & Ry has computer/play time, I work one on one with Brady. I'm still tinkering with our new schedule so time will only tell! </div>

<span style="color: #3366ff;">Well of course he has a GREAT teacher in his mommy ;) We've only been at it a week but I cant be more thankful that God has called our family to homeschooling! I love our new curriculum! It's completely Christ centered and challenges my lil braniac's mind all the while teaching him not just academics but also the Word of God! Here are some pics from our 1st week.</span><br />

<br />
Well we are the home stretch of Kindergarten and of course I have VERY mixed emotions! Happy to see how much Brady is learning, but a little bit sad because he's growing up so fast! Even though he's known all of his letters and their sounds for a long time I have decided to review him on them and use this as a way to get Rylan involved and to have some learning fun with Brady. We are doing this on top of our regular reading and math lessons and using the weekly letters to learn new words, play games, do science, and some social studies type projects. So check back every week to see what we've come up with :)<br />
<br />
The boys glued Yarn to a Yellow Y. Rylan's is on the left & Brady's on the right. Brady & I also discussed words that start with Y & we talked about the one's he didn't know & looked for pictures of them in his 1st Dictionary. I purposely made lunch or dinner with something that began with a Y, but it took him a bit to guess Yellow corn :) Momma doesn't do Yams! And of course he had Yogurt at lunch one day. Brady was also extremely happy that Yoshi from Super Mario starts with a Y too and reminds me of this whenever he plays :)<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeM91FcsxI/AAAAAAAAAcs/J5ciETTFnac/s1600/Ys.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559567258862007058" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeM91FcsxI/AAAAAAAAAcs/J5ciETTFnac/s320/Ys.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
Rylan coloring a letter Y from his book. you can also see textured Y we trace with our fingers & a ball of Yarn we used for our art & to play a game of toss with.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeM9uMouRI/AAAAAAAAAck/VlKn-tw7cQY/s1600/ycolor.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559567257013106962" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeM9uMouRI/AAAAAAAAAck/VlKn-tw7cQY/s320/ycolor.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
Brady using Cuisinare Rods to make Ys. This book also helps with colors & counting & many other fun activities.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeMHhL3ecI/AAAAAAAAAcc/eTmXuTvhLc8/s1600/yblocks.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559566325807282626" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeMHhL3ecI/AAAAAAAAAcc/eTmXuTvhLc8/s320/yblocks.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 320px; width: 240px;" /></a><br />
Brady tossing Quarters onto the letter Q.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeMHqVtxoI/AAAAAAAAAcU/VvKP61JVwZA/s1600/DSCN0759.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559566328264509058" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeMHqVtxoI/AAAAAAAAAcU/VvKP61JVwZA/s320/DSCN0759.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 320px; width: 240px;" /></a><br />
After practicing his printing we put the Quarters under the paper so he could rub the imprint of the Quarter.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeMHaotn7I/AAAAAAAAAcM/9qe_2iv2PdM/s1600/DSCN0758.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559566324049223602" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeMHaotn7I/AAAAAAAAAcM/9qe_2iv2PdM/s320/DSCN0758.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
The boys also painted Qs with Q-tips & happy for me, they didn't even make a mess!!<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeMHJHDXNI/AAAAAAAAAcE/fSJLWXexsQs/s1600/DSCN0757.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559566319344639186" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeMHJHDXNI/AAAAAAAAAcE/fSJLWXexsQs/s320/DSCN0757.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 176px; width: 234px;" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeMGiKCwxI/AAAAAAAAAb8/ctlkK8HJNv8/s1600/DSCN0756.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559566308888199954" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TSeMGiKCwxI/AAAAAAAAAb8/ctlkK8HJNv8/s320/DSCN0756.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 175px; width: 233px;" /></a><br />
Their final products with our list of Q words.<br />

After school was over today we went out to lunch and ate some Quesadillas! MMMMM MMMM MMMMM!!!!MommaAshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11588599316027687411noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5982805549970315307.post-59910281659813084722012-04-20T08:56:00.000-07:002012-04-23T18:07:05.121-07:00Letters & Numbers<br />
(January 18, 2011)<br />
<br />
On the home school front we reviewed the letters N & L.<br />
<br />
For the letter N our focus was Numbers. We went on a number hunt at Walmart and Brady wrote down all the Numbers he saw in his little Notebook. We worked on skip counting by 10s and 5s and worked on some early addition skills too. Our N food was Nachos (my favorite) and we talked about different ways we can be Nice to others and Not be Naughty.<br />
<br />
The Letter L represented Letters. Brady is almost finished with his Kindergarten reading book! So we've used the last couple of weeks to review. Our verse was <span style="color: red;">Luke 10:27 "Jesus answered, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”</span> Which also tied into our "Nice" lesson. His L food was a Lollipop, but thought it was "SO COOL" to eat ABC's & 123's because it had Letters and Numbers in it. :) The Little things that kids Like LoL...and speaking of LoL...we also talked about things that make us Laugh...my favorite was my kiddos, Brady's was Tom & Jerry.<br />
<br />
For our craft I cut many Numbers and Letters out of newspaper and Brady had to sort them and glue the Numbers to the Letter N and the Letters on the L.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TTW4Ky3jogI/AAAAAAAAAdE/fNbza3ke-qQ/s1600/l%2B%2526%2Bn.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5563555410279113218" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TTW4Ky3jogI/AAAAAAAAAdE/fNbza3ke-qQ/s320/l%2B%2526%2Bn.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TTW4Kh1duJI/AAAAAAAAAc8/u3XLV-8yRHI/s1600/ln.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5563555405706934418" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TTW4Kh1duJI/AAAAAAAAAc8/u3XLV-8yRHI/s320/ln.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 320px; width: 240px;" /></a><br />
<br />
Pictures were taken on my phone so the quality isnt too great. This week we're taking off to the great state of Texas to visit my mom & sister! have a blessed week!!!MommaAshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11588599316027687411noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5982805549970315307.post-87998714629953763152012-04-20T08:53:00.000-07:002012-04-23T18:07:47.488-07:00Letters O & T(February 1, 2011)<br />
<br />
Last week we reviewed the letter O & made some super cute Owls! <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Rylan</span> joined in the fun this time!<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUisL7mN7HI/AAAAAAAAAdY/NNuowv3tIOk/s1600/O.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568890260220144754" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUisL7mN7HI/AAAAAAAAAdY/NNuowv3tIOk/s320/O.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 320px; width: 240px;" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUisMVmOCFI/AAAAAAAAAd4/IkOHd9e0pCA/s1600/DSCN0804.JPG"> </a><br />
They painted their <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">O's</span> added a triangle with 2 green circles for the eyes. This was also an opportunity to teach <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Rylan</span> some colors & shapes, though he didn't care for it as much as he did the painting! I had to pry the paint brush out of his hand!<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUisMVmOCFI/AAAAAAAAAd4/IkOHd9e0pCA/s1600/DSCN0804.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568890267199473746" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUisMVmOCFI/AAAAAAAAAd4/IkOHd9e0pCA/s320/DSCN0804.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
Our O food was an orange of course! Brady wasn't too keen on trying an Olive! We talked a lot about the Ocean & our vacation to the beach when saw a lot of different sea creatures up close! Too close for me! A baby shark swam 5 feet away from were we were! We also looked in books & talked about the different animals that live in the Ocean. After we made our Owls we learned a new word: NOCTURNAL because most Owls sleep in the day & hunt for food at night. Another new word was OAR. It was in his dictionary & he couldn't understand why they put a paddle under the O because paddle starts with P! He cracks me up sometimes with his simple logical sense of things.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Brady also reviewed the letter T & made a cute Tree in the shape of a T.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUisMTDYhsI/AAAAAAAAAdw/_d7J59VjwfM/s1600/T.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568890266516489922" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUisMTDYhsI/AAAAAAAAAdw/_d7J59VjwfM/s320/T.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 320px; width: 240px;" /></a><br />
He colored the Trunk & branches, then used a sponge to paint green leaves on it & before the paint could dry, he added fake grass we bought a while back to add some Texture!<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUisMAR7XEI/AAAAAAAAAdo/aXRhMJTeCdo/s1600/DSCN0803.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568890261477219394" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUisMAR7XEI/AAAAAAAAAdo/aXRhMJTeCdo/s320/DSCN0803.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 320px; width: 240px;" /></a><br />
Brady came up with a Ton of T words! As you can see by his list some of his VERY favorite Things start with T. Trains Thomas & Toby made the list & Brady wasn't too happy I ran out of room to write Tow Mater from Disney's Cars :) Our story came from the Bible, we Talked about the Trees in the Garden of Eden & the 1st sin. Brady remembered most of it which makes me happy! We also Talked a lot about Trust & Telling the Truth. Our T food was his favorite vegetable, a Tomato! I had considered working on Telling Time for math, but I didn't want to interrupt our addition that we had already started.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUisL_x2jiI/AAAAAAAAAdg/3fzpiSM1eWo/s1600/adding.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568890261342686754" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUisL_x2jiI/AAAAAAAAAdg/3fzpiSM1eWo/s320/adding.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 320px; width: 240px;" /></a><br />
As you can see he did VERY well on his on. I like to buy the $1 workbooks to assist with our Singapore book we typically use. Brady likes it too because as he says, "I get to work with my friends." Meaning his favorite characters. :)<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUivDaQkXkI/AAAAAAAAAeA/8Fk7qp2swn4/s1600/DSCN0805.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568893412366900802" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TUivDaQkXkI/AAAAAAAAAeA/8Fk7qp2swn4/s320/DSCN0805.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
He also uses his <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">Cuisinaire</span> Rods to help count the numbers & then add them all together. I'm amazed at how quick he caught on. I'm hoping he's good at math & likes it. I never did! One of my main goals in homeschooling is to make learning fun so here's to praying I can find fun ways to teach the stuff I don't like so much.MommaAshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11588599316027687411noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5982805549970315307.post-67829124658907371642012-04-20T08:50:00.000-07:002012-04-23T18:08:46.949-07:00Letters C and M<span style="color: #3366ff;">(February 7, 2011)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #3366ff;">First of all let me say a BIG thanks to ALL the AAHHH-MAZING mommy bloggers out there who dedicate so much time into sharing their ideas for the rest of us!!! Because of these ladies I'm able to do so many fun learning activities with my boys & they inspire me to create some things on my own!</span><br />
<br />
We began last week reviewing the letter C. I took this time to introduce Brady to the CH sound as well because we are about to cover that in our reading lessons. We also talked about how the letter C can also make a "S" sound like in the words City, Celery, & Cereal. Brady thinks the letter C is a tricky Cat! (dont ask)<br />
<br />
Last year I read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" to the boys & ever since then it has been a BIG hit in our household! Both big boys can quote it word for word! So they were pretty ecstatic when we read it during "school" time & made Caterpillar C's!<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TVBMKPm7KxI/AAAAAAAAAeg/PU5ZkWmv6jM/s1600/DSCN0891.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571036477929499410" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TVBMKPm7KxI/AAAAAAAAAeg/PU5ZkWmv6jM/s320/DSCN0891.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
Rylan was incredibly impressed by the little fuzzy Craft balls we used. So I came up with a "Tot School" activity that I'll post tomorrow! :)<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TVBPiO2c1iI/AAAAAAAAAfA/ACDakNZGuMc/s1600/DSCN0811.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571040188577928738" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TVBPiO2c1iI/AAAAAAAAAfA/ACDakNZGuMc/s320/DSCN0811.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
We also made Chocolate Chip Cookies in the shape of the letter C. This was quite messy, but of course that made the boys love it even more! Rylan sang the Cookie Monster song, "C is for Cookie, it's good enough for me" the whole time :) I wish I would've gotten it on Camera, but my hands were covered in gooey dough!<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TVBMYjIGXZI/AAAAAAAAAew/5uiy6Ih5vM4/s1600/cookieC.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571036723687087506" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TVBMYjIGXZI/AAAAAAAAAew/5uiy6Ih5vM4/s320/cookieC.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 320px; width: 240px;" /></a><br />
While our Cookies were baking we read the book, "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie." I HIGHLY recommend all the "If You Give A..." books!!! We also took time to talk about their Cousins & named all of the ones whose names started with a C: Caleb, Connor, Cameron, Christian, & Cody; Brady was a little upset that his Cousin Kaelin's name started with a K & not a C.<br />
<br />
We also discussed how Jesus is the Christ & though I know the deep meaning of Christ is above his lil head, I still enjoy planting the seed in him & sowing it, because one day he will understand & that is the ultimate goal!<br />
<br />
Our other C activities included lots Counting with our addition, playing with Cards, eating lots of C foods: Cookies, Carrots, Chips, Celery, Chicken, Corn...bet you can guess which food was Brady's favorite!<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TVBZtUDeFII/AAAAAAAAAfI/bWEHhMppYEc/s1600/disney-cars.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571051374069552258" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TVBZtUDeFII/AAAAAAAAAfI/bWEHhMppYEc/s320/disney-cars.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 228px; width: 228px;" /></a><br />
The boys even had a lunch of Chicken, Chips, & Corn while they watched Cars. I was informed this day that I was "The Best Mom EVER!!!" :D<br />
<br />
Brady couldn't have been more thrilled to begin the letter M when he saw we would be doing our Math lesson with M & M's!!! He sorted them by colors & counted them, did his addition with them, made patterns & shapes with them & we even brought the M &M's into our language lesson & traced our M's with M & M's.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TVBMJUnN5lI/AAAAAAAAAeI/RMM6IsBP3jU/s1600/DSCN0852.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571036462093035090" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TVBMJUnN5lI/AAAAAAAAAeI/RMM6IsBP3jU/s320/DSCN0852.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TVBMYgDCy9I/AAAAAAAAAe4/PBwACzTwFxE/s1600/m%2526mM.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571036722860575698" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_D6kveyVNbc4/TVBMYgDCy9I/AAAAAAAAAe4/PBwACzTwFxE/s320/m%2526mM.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
I used to have a M & M Math book from when I taught 4th grade, but have seen it since then :( I will have to purchase it again because my students LOVED it!<br />
<br />
We spent that afternoon reading "If You Take A Mouse To The Movies" & which led us to watching the Movie "A Mickey Mouse Christmas" while we ate some popcorn & M &M's with Chocolate Milk. (Notice the Mixing of C's & M's??? ;P) We also purposely Made a Mess so we could Clean it up. For dinner we had a special M Meal of Mini Meatloaf Muffins & Mashed potatoes. We also played ALL of their Musical instruments & made up silly songs together.<br />
<br />
We focused our Bible story to Moses & the 10 Commandments & made our Mt. Sinai out of the letter M, added some clouds & of course Moses too!<br />

We reviewed the Commandments & gave examples of each (with the exception of adultery) & I explained to my best ability what Mercy was & that even though we often make Mistakes, God shows us Mercy & He forgives us; which is why we should show Mercy to others.MommaAshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11588599316027687411noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5982805549970315307.post-84128198095785802222012-04-20T08:44:00.000-07:002012-04-23T18:09:20.839-07:00Valentine's 2011(February 14, 2011)<br />
<br />
Last week began discussing Valentine's & how it's a holiday for us to remind others of how much we love them & more importantly that God loves them. We started the week off with the letter H for Heart. The boys used these little Hearts for EVERYTHING all week long! They made patterns with them & sorted them by color & size.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DyK-z2NmAAA/TVnpLqxOOFI/AAAAAAAAAgQ/XXGPtkZ8rnw/s1600/DSCN0896.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573742400516274258" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DyK-z2NmAAA/TVnpLqxOOFI/AAAAAAAAAgQ/XXGPtkZ8rnw/s320/DSCN0896.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
Brady used them to count while he did his addition.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eHGWYEE80iE/TVnpLAVMQvI/AAAAAAAAAgA/zU3CECPsOno/s1600/DSCN0918.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573742389124416242" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eHGWYEE80iE/TVnpLAVMQvI/AAAAAAAAAgA/zU3CECPsOno/s320/DSCN0918.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
They glued the Hearts to a letter H.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WwHjhZzn2zc/TVnpKzxRbbI/AAAAAAAAAf4/bzhTNXiCA6g/s1600/DSCN0921.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573742385752534450" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WwHjhZzn2zc/TVnpKzxRbbI/AAAAAAAAAf4/bzhTNXiCA6g/s320/DSCN0921.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a> <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WR9NsR9QK_0/TVnpLydpi6I/AAAAAAAAAgY/j7f92cLjqn4/s1600/DSCN0920.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573742402581662626" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WR9NsR9QK_0/TVnpLydpi6I/AAAAAAAAAgY/j7f92cLjqn4/s320/DSCN0920.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
Decorated their Valentine bags with them.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r3ppMuWC6ys/TVnqmQfp0AI/AAAAAAAAAgo/SUACb4VBjGc/s1600/168928_10150136309118523_625878522_7822458_2295978_n.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573743956831358978" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r3ppMuWC6ys/TVnqmQfp0AI/AAAAAAAAAgo/SUACb4VBjGc/s320/168928_10150136309118523_625878522_7822458_2295978_n.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 320px; width: 240px;" /></a> <a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-erWc2e8U6rE/TVnqmOkN1fI/AAAAAAAAAgg/y0Lj3-AtUFM/s1600/182795_10150136309303523_625878522_7822464_5777376_n.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573743956313626098" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-erWc2e8U6rE/TVnqmOkN1fI/AAAAAAAAAgg/y0Lj3-AtUFM/s320/182795_10150136309303523_625878522_7822464_5777376_n.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 320px; width: 240px;" /></a><br />
And Brady used them to decorate the Valentines he made for all his friends.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qw2PBe7z1eg/TVnpLUb4ifI/AAAAAAAAAgI/P3Yl6XeQXbQ/s1600/DSCN0923.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573742394521192946" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qw2PBe7z1eg/TVnpLUb4ifI/AAAAAAAAAgI/P3Yl6XeQXbQ/s320/DSCN0923.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
As we talked about love we focused on the Verses <span style="color: red;">Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied: </span><span class="woj" style="color: red;">“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’</span><span class="woj" style="color: red;">38 This is the first and greatest commandment.</span><span style="color: red;"> </span><span class="woj">39<span style="color: red;"> And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’"</span> We discussed many ways we could show love to others & how we can show God how we can show God how much we love Him. I really enjoyed talking about God's love! In fact I NEVER get tired of about of the love of my Savior & Bridegroom...but that's a whole other blog not in homeschooling :)</span>Our H foods were of course Hot dogs & Ham & cheese sandwiches.<span class="woj">For the letter V we didn't have any foods except what I called our special Valentine meal of Heart shaped pancakes. We have some Venison, but I never got around to thawing it out to cook :)<br /><br />For our V craft the boys made Vases.</span><br />
<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573723990611614514" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-L8R_NE_Rq-s/TVnYcEh6WzI/AAAAAAAAAfY/qhYLS2AaVbA/s320/vase.jpg" style="height: 240px; width: 320px;" /><br />
I drew different kinds of flowers& let the boys color them. We cut them out & pasted them with stems to fill the Vases. I thought they turned out SUPER cute!<br />

We ate some yummy food & had a fabulous time! I am SO incredibly thankful that God has brought some sweet homeschooling mommies to me! It's nice to have some friends who understand what I am going through in this area of my life.<br />
<br />
This week we are reviewing our letters up to this point so no big crafts. Hopefully this break will finally let me upload a blog on Tot School...Rylan's special stuff :)MommaAshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11588599316027687411noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5982805549970315307.post-43072450931008268052012-04-20T08:27:00.003-07:002012-04-23T18:09:58.622-07:00ARGH!!! Pirates Ahoy!!!<br />
<br />
(May 2011)<br />
<br />
I just came across this post on oceans & pirates that I never finished from LAST YEAR!! Better late than never right? :) So please forgive the choppiness of this post.<br />
<br />
We checked out a fun learning box from the Resource Center that included pretend ocean animals, seashells, stamp art supplies & other items to help the boys learn all about the ocean. We are actually going to check this box out again soon, so I'll go into more detail then. <br />

<br />
My boys have been in love with pirates for quite sometime now. So of
course I had to find as much learning stuff as I could that was based
around the pirate theme. All of the printable stuff you see came from <a href="http://homeschoolcreations.com/piratelapbook.html">HomeSchool Creations</a> & <a href="http://www.makinglearningfun.com/themepages/PiratePrintabels.htm">Making Learning Fun.</a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--Pcd85pqRXs/Tf_mDss0ZYI/AAAAAAAAAk0/tw1lx_3EJmA/s1600/DSCN1449.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620463811194807682" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--Pcd85pqRXs/Tf_mDss0ZYI/AAAAAAAAAk0/tw1lx_3EJmA/s320/DSCN1449.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620463805226973314" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SaBSWipBBYE/Tf_mDWd-eII/AAAAAAAAAks/ibDQMAtsiWI/s320/DSCN1448.JPG" style="height: 320px; width: 240px;" /><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620459389300554082" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oo3F8pKlPZo/Tf_iCT3EuWI/AAAAAAAAAkE/JUZ2QptnPe4/s320/DSCN1450.JPG" style="height: 240px; width: 320px;" /><br />
I printed off pirate themed letters from Homeschool Creations & Brady had to line them up in order the match the lower case letters to the capital letters & he also traced the letters with a dry erase marker. Below, he had to read the color words on his worksheet & match the correct color fish to it.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oF50r5WUjos/Tf_mC7kIscI/AAAAAAAAAkk/JtUaifyJDBA/s1600/DSCN1435.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620463798005051842" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oF50r5WUjos/Tf_mC7kIscI/AAAAAAAAAkk/JtUaifyJDBA/s320/DSCN1435.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
Rylan practiced counting to five with the help of a cute tot-book from 1+1+1=1.<br />
<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620459401880495666" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JRyLhqvS_bk/Tf_iDCuXZjI/AAAAAAAAAkU/B0kwZQBQp4Y/s320/DSCN1433.JPG" style="height: 240px; width: 320px;" /><br />
<br />
I found the cute printables below at MakingLearningFun.com. Brady
cut & pasted pictures to their rhyming word in the treasure chest.
He also counted Cheerios & the big boys glued them on to represent
the suction cups. As you can tell Rylan ate more Cheerios than he glued

One day the boys went on a pretend treasure hunt in the back yard & when they came inside for snack they found their treasure right where X marked the spot! One of their favorite snacks is popcorn with M & Ms & Skittles. They enjoyed their snack while they watched Veggie Tales: The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For some letter P fun, Rylan used his Do A Dot Marker for this cute printable I got from Making Learning Fun & Brady made a parrot from the letter P. After all, what's a pirate without a parrot?!<img alt="" border="0" height="240" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620459396710229474" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PYmrb3ad6b0/Tf_iCvdrZeI/AAAAAAAAAkM/zyKEXgiRnWI/s320/DSCN1432.JPG" width="320" /><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620471329738951586" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xRj8hIMQamo/Tf_s5Vdbi6I/AAAAAAAAAl8/ysngrigIoRM/s320/263634_10150281657683523_625878522_8928234_7200275_n.jpg" style="height: 320px; width: 240px;" /></div>

<br />
Brady read a children's pop-up book to Keller called "I'm a Pirate" & Rylan "read" his pirate book to our dog Fred :) They're BFFS!! Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of this book. Sorry for the fuzziness, I took these pics with my phone.<br />

We will be learning about oceans again in the next couple of months & I'm sure they'll request more pirate stuff as well so please come back to check that out!!.<br />

My sweet Brady completed all his 1st grade stuff! We began the week after July 4, 2011 & finished up The first week of April 2012 even with all the breaks we needed to take due to my unexpected call into the Pro-Life Ministry, speaking engagements, traveling, sickness & anything else that came up. I must admit though, it wasn't hard with him, he's naturally smart! We've only been done 2 weeks & he's begging to start up his 2nd grade curriculum!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are some pictures I snapped throughout the year of him learning. I try to incorporate different learning styles & ideas as much as possible & always keep learning fun! Some of Brady's favorite things this year were the dinosaur dig, our nature hunts, trying astronaut food, learning to read his Beginner's Bible, & all the fun play dates at the Resource Center.</div>

I know! I know! I'm SO late! lol :) That has been my theme lately, unfortunately! But here we go :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love Dr. Seuss! Though some of his books tend to run too long for me, I adore his whimsical imagination nonetheless! I love that my boys love his books too! We have a lot already, but checked out some others because I wanted to read as many as we possibly could & do as many fun activities as we possibly could! Regretfully, we didn't get to read & do all I had hoped, but we did have a Seusstacular week anyway! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iilhzgPXDT0/T2uG95_5glI/AAAAAAAABTc/4URv2onUF5E/s1600/seuss+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="213px" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iilhzgPXDT0/T2uG95_5glI/AAAAAAAABTc/4URv2onUF5E/s320/seuss+001.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now don't start hating, but I can't remember where I got all of our printables from! I did buy a cute pack from Mama's Little Monkeys for $1 & I went to Teacher Pay Teachers & searched for FREE printables. I really love that site! There are so many creative teachers out there!! </div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you can see Rylan had a blast with all of his Seuss stuff & I forgot to get pics of Brady working on some of his. I didn't find a whole lot for 1st grade that I was willing to buy, but I did print some free stuff from Seussville.com that included language & reading work as well as some math, all with Dr. Suess themes!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One day for lunch I made the boys sandwiches from this fish shaped bread (they really did't like it though;P) & of course Goldfish crackers. I read One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish to them while they ate then I let them watch the Cat in the Hat cartoon that comes on PBS.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We used their hands to make Things 1 & 2 which I thought turned out super cute!! I loved it because I always call Brady & Rylan Thing 1 & Thing 2.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On Friday, Dr. Seuss's actual birthday, we went to the Resource Center for a party celebrating the man himself! They made Green Eggs & Ham, listened to stories, played games & did a few crafts. The ladies who work at the Resource Center each dressed up as a different Dr. Seuss character. We love them! They always come up with the cutest stuff for the kids!</div>

Who doesn't LOVE Valentine fun?! We don't just have Valentine's Day, we have Valentine's Week! I used printables from <a href="http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/blog/2010/02/prek-letter-v.html">Confession of a Homeschooler's Letter of the Week</a> & a few from <a href="http://www.2teachingmommies.com/2012/01/valentine-expanded.html">2 Teaching Mommies Valentine Pack</a> & <a href="http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/LoveTotPack.html">1+1+1=1</a>. Below Brady is using Scrabble tiles to spell Valentine words while Rylan sorts big V's & little V's. Then Rylan used the Scrabble tiles to match the letters</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Rylan practiced his handwriting by tracing lines, played with his magnets, & did matching games.</div>

The night before our homeschool Valentine party the boys decorated their bags to collect all the Valentines they'd get from their friends. They had a ton of fun, but I was so busy I didn't take one single picture! (GASP!) Thankfully, the other mommas promised to send me copies of theirs.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
My boys LOVE robots so I knew as soon as I saw <a href="http://www.homeschoolcreations.com/robotpreschoolpack.html">Homeschool Creations' Robot pack</a> we would have to do it! It worked out really well in lining up with Brady's spelling words too! In her pack she has traceable pages for color words, which my oldest had just begun learning to spell. So while he worked on those, my 3 year old practiced his own writing skills.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

He practiced his shapes & colors too. My oldest really enjoyed the Roll & Gragh printable, but of course I didn't get pictures of it & the other cute printables we did from Jolanthe's pack. Be sure to click on the link above to see all of the fun stuff she has!</div>

I completely forgot to take a picture of the fun robot books we checked out from our library! My bad! They also got to watch Wall-E & The Backyardigan's Robot Rampage to tie into the fun of our robot week! I'm sure this will be topic we come back to in the near future because they absolutely loved it!</div>

Living in Mississippi seeing real snow happens maybe once a year if we are lucky! My poor sweet 6 year old, Brady, has been praying for snow since July, but today our temperature is 73 so I doubt he'll get it this year! Although we still pray for it everyday! :) Since we've started back to school we have been studying Creation for our Bible studies. Rylan has been learning about the letter S with a snow theme for preschool & was so excited when I found this cute devotional by <a href="http://www.2teachingmommies.com/2012/01/memory-verse-helps-genesis-127.html">2 Teaching Mommies</a> that tied the 2 together!<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FY2Ddab1a1o/Txn9cocQu8I/AAAAAAAABPk/Rj5E66y0jhQ/s1600/snow+028.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" nfa="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FY2Ddab1a1o/Txn9cocQu8I/AAAAAAAABPk/Rj5E66y0jhQ/s320/snow+028.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Our other printables came from Confessions of a <a href="http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/blog/2009/11/prek-letter-s.html">Homeschooler LOTW</a>. Rylan enjoys these activities so much! I honestly don't get the fascination with the magnet pages, but he loves them so I print them out & even made our own magnet pom poms for him to use. When we start a new letter I always go over the sounds & sing the sound songs we learned from LeapFrog & have him trace a textured letter with his finger.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320px" nfa="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-K1pny2u-JeY/Txn2iDzeExI/AAAAAAAABNs/E-dmFFD8koQ/s320/snow+001.JPG" width="213px" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then he traces the letter using Do-A-Dot markers. He loves this too & has gotten very good at it! The next day he practices tracing various kinds of lines, curves, & shapes using pages I laminate & a dry erase crayon. I'm amazed at how well his handwriting has progressed! The next day I have him practice tracing the letter. He doesn't hold the crayon correctly, but he does an excellent job staying on the lines.<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-62K2cxQMXyo/Txn32S5hCDI/AAAAAAAABOE/GSj-DfGWO70/s1600/snow+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" nfa="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-62K2cxQMXyo/Txn32S5hCDI/AAAAAAAABOE/GSj-DfGWO70/s320/snow+006.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He really enjoys the different kinds of puzzles & matching games that come with the various packs I print. I'm really proud at how well he can differentiate between capital & lower case letters.<img border="0" height="213px" nfa="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KypEI2nAJjc/Txn4Sdy9YII/AAAAAAAABOM/nqcEv4l0oTk/s320/snow+007.JPG" width="320px" /><img border="0" height="213px" nfa="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hPbm9QsCFC4/TxrW-l7ruJI/AAAAAAAABP8/6MSrc9DqUY8/s320/holidays+024.JPG" width="320px" /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lOvYWvUCO1o/TxrWf5dwZPI/AAAAAAAABP0/6rjfIBBtH_k/s1600/holidays+022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" nfa="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lOvYWvUCO1o/TxrWf5dwZPI/AAAAAAAABP0/6rjfIBBtH_k/s320/holidays+022.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Rylan's cutting skills are still rough, but I think I'm going to give him smaller pieces of paper to cut to see if that will help. I constantly have to remind him to keep his thumb up. Please tell me he'll eventually get it! :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_Z3l05nJaX8/Txn5TJkR_cI/AAAAAAAABOc/OpCgmnY4nss/s1600/snow+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" nfa="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_Z3l05nJaX8/Txn5TJkR_cI/AAAAAAAABOc/OpCgmnY4nss/s320/snow+009.JPG" width="213px" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Since we took our Christmas break Rylan all over sudden started saying 18 & 19 instead of 8 & 9, & he starts out counting like this, "1, a 2, a 3, a 4..." I have no idea why he started putting "a" before his numbers. It's really funny to hear; sounds like he's about to rock it out! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I print the number cards 4 to a page to save paper & ink instead of a full page for each number. I put the numbers in a circle & Rylan marched around counting in order 1-10, then I mixed them up & he had to jump to each number & called. He wasn't paying attention, but he did have fun jumping LOL! Our other counting activity we did was saying the number on the card, then Ry would have to count out that many mini-marshmallows to put on the card.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Of course he enjoyed counting them as they went into his mouth better! <a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hn-9ElLa7eQ/Txn6tMad4wI/AAAAAAAABO0/K-Ni-XVRJMw/s1600/snow+015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" nfa="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hn-9ElLa7eQ/Txn6tMad4wI/AAAAAAAABO0/K-Ni-XVRJMw/s320/snow+015.JPG" width="213px" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Of course big brother Brady did too!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Brady enjoyed practicing spelling snowman. He always asks to to the preschool packs with Rylan because let's face it, they look so cute & are so much fun. So when he finishes his morning stuff I let him come & do which ever ones he likes.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For our crafts, the boys decorated foam snowflakes with gold & silver glitter glue & then used letter stickers to put their name on them when they dried. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then they cut out a snow man & glued him together on construction paper. Well, I cute out Rylan's, Brady did his own. Then they used a white crayon to make snow & more glitter to make the snow sparkle!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
During Christmas I found this Magic Snow kit at Walmart & thought it would be fun to try. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The boys did so good at following directions & measuring the powder & water! It didn't feel like real snow, just kind of looked like snow & the boys were pretty bummed, & so was I. :(</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So instead getting our snow "fix" we went outside & played in the spring-like weather. Silver lining I guess :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We also read some books about snow & winter, & the Resource Center carries these alliteration books based around each letter. They are so cute & so much fun! The boys LOVE them!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hope you all have had a great start getting back into the groove after the holidays! If you would, please pray for a miracle & that Brady will get REAL snow this season! I believe in miracles & really want my fella to be happy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Blessings!</div>
